Kelvyn Hemphill

School: Illinois State
Position: S
Bio: Four-year starter awarded all-Conference honors after his junior season. Senior totals included 67/1/5 after 71/1/3 the prior year. Totaled 79 tackles as a sophomore.
Positive: Big defensive back who is fluid moving sideline to sideline. Shows an aggressive streak, has a burst to the ball carrier, and is tough against the run. Sells out on the blitz and is quick up the field defending screen plays. Shows a good burst of closing speed.
Negative: Does not take correct angles to the action. Not a reliable tackler. Shows minimal ability driving out of his plant.
Analysis: Hemphill is a smallish safety who is best defending the run. He shows the athleticism necessary to play in center field but must improve his ball skills to have any chance of making it out of camp this summer.
