Bio: Posted 74/7/1 as a senior when he became a full-time starter. Totaled 45 tackles as a junior with one start.
Positive: Nice sized safety who displayed terrific development in his game last season. Fluid moving in reverse, smooth changing direction and has a burst of closing speed. Displays strength as an open field tackler, squares into ball carriers and brings them down on initial contact. Shows the ability to get outside the numbers to make plays and flashes on the scene. Plays faster than his 40 time and shows speed in a straight line as well as laterally.
Negative: Not forceful on the blitz. Does not consistently take proper angles to the action. Has adequate ball skills.
Analysis: Perez will be downgraded by scouts because of his poor 40 time, but he is a prospect who did nothing but make positive plays last season. He does not have a lot of upside but could fit as a zone safety/special teams player.
