Positive: Large, aggressive safety who is best between the numbers. Quick up the field, drives his shoulders into ball carriers, and wraps up tackling. Takes good angles to the action, displays a sense of timing, and keeps the play in front of him. Forceful on the blitz and sells out moving up the field. Plays heads-up football and works well with cornerbacks.
Negative: Possesses a marginal burst of speed. Not quick or fluid pedaling in reverse. Struggles with his ball skills.
Analysis: Rich is an instinctive ballplayer with limited quickness and speed. He has the makings of a potential strong safety but is a player who must make his mark on special teams.
