Jeremy Avery

School: Boise State
Position: RB
Bio: Former starter used in a rotational role last season, finishing the year with 95/495/11 on the ground and 14/154/1 receiving. Posted career numbers as a junior with 29/1151/6 on the ground and 23/257/1 catching the ball. Awarded all-Conference honors in 2009.
Positive: Small, elusive skill player who creates yardage. Slippery, makes defenders miss, and quickly gets through the cutback lanes. Runs low to the ground, gets lost behind blockers, and can turn it on in a single step. Solid receiver who makes the reception away from his frame.
Negative: Lacks breakaway speed and cannot beat defenders into the open field. Undersized and brought down by the first defender. Does too much dancing rather than taking it up the field.
Analysis: Avery is limited by size but shows quickness and creativity in his game, which will give him consideration as a third-down/rotational back at the next level. He would help his cause this summer if he produces returning punts.
