Tyrod Taylor

School: Virginia Tech
Position: QB
Bio: Three-year starter named ACC Offensive Player of the Year in 2010 after posting 59.7%/2743/24/5. Junior totals included 56%/2311/13/5.
Positive: Athletic passer who significantly improved his game last year. Patient in the pocket, throws with an over-the-top delivery, and gets rid of the ball with a flick of his wrist. Remains poised, gets outside the pocket to give himself more time, and easily eludes defenders or scrambles from the rush. Possesses a big arm, puts speed on all his passes, and loses nothing throwing on the move. Effectively controls and commands the offense.
Negative: Short and seemingly has difficulty seeing over the line at times. Tends to stare down the primary target. Passes will sail at times. Marginal downfield accuracy.
Analysis: Taylor displayed signs of improvement last year, and his play pushed him into the late rounds of the draft. He does not possess starting potential for the NFL, but he could be a back-up quarterback placed on the field in the red zone or during wildcat formations.
