Austen Arnaud

School: Iowa State
Position: QB
Bio: Three-year starter who put up 59%/1703/13/10 passing and 103/287/2 rushing as a senior. Junior totals included 58.7%/2015/14/13 through the air with 561 yards rushing and eight more scores on the ground. Posted a career-best 2792 yards passing as a sophomore.
Positive: Big, strong passer whose game never improved the past two seasons. Sells ball fakes, throws with an over-the-top delivery, and possesses a quick release. Zips the ball in the intermediate field and also drives deep passes. Athletic, can get outside the pocket, and easily make passes on the move. Can pick up yardage with his legs.
Negative: Stares down the primary target. Forces the ball into covered receivers and puts passes up for grabs. Sprays throws and possesses poor accuracy and as pass placement.
Analysis: Arnaud looked liked a potential star in the making after his sophomore season of 2008 but his game leveled off and in many instances even regressed. He lacks the fundamentals and intangibles to play at the next level, but he should be given a look in camp this summer to see if he's worth keeping on a practice squad
