Arvell Nelson

School: Texas Southern
Position: QB
Bio: Iowa transfer who finished with 54.2%/1772/9/15 as a senior with 529 yards rushing with eight more scores. Junior numbers included 2392 yards passing and 12 touchdowns.
Positive: Athletic passer who's shown flashes of ability. Possesses a nice arm, puts air under deep throws, and gives receivers a chance. Shows patience in the pocket, goes to secondary targets, and has the ability to elude oncoming pass rushers. Can pick up yardage with his legs or get outside the pocket and make passes on the move.
Negative: Inconsistent accuracy and often misses open targets. Stares down the primary receiver on occasion. Makes some very questionable throws.
Analysis: Nelson is a physically gifted passer who often relies on carrying the ball rather than making proper decisions in the pocket. He's a developmental prospect who will need time to complete his game.
