Sells out on the blitz and shows good quickness. Breaks down well, moves well on his feet, and collapses to the outside in pursuit of the action. Shows ability in zone coverage and is effective facing the action.
Negative: Small and handled at the point of attack by fullbacks. Possesses just a short burst of speed, which he does not sustain.
Analysis: Venable is an intense defender who plays hard for 60 minutes, constantly flying around the action to make something positive happen. He has size/speed limitations but could be a conventional strong safety that can also produce on special teams.
