Positive: Competitive yet undersized linebacker who goes hard sideline to sideline. Breaks down well, collapses laterally, and makes plays in space. Remains disciplined with assignments, has fluid footwork moving in every direction, and shows a burst of speed. Relatively strong for his size.
Negative: Marginally productive in college. Lacks bulk and struggles getting off blocks once engaged at the point.
Analysis: Thompson was a solid college linebacker and possesses enough skills to get consideration as a backup weak side defender in a conventional alignment.
