Bio: All-Conference selection as a senior after becoming a full-time starter and posting career-best numbers of 76/5.5/2 to lead Southern Illinois in tackles. Also added one interception and broke up two more passes. Totaled 38 tackles as a junior.
Positive: Smallish but athletic linebacker with the ability to make plays sideline to sideline. Flows well laterally to the action, aggressive and gets after ball carriers. Affectively uses his hands to protect himself and immediately alters his angle of attack or redirects to ball carriers. Solid run stuffer who quickly makes his way up the field.
Negative: Takes incorrect angles to the action and gets caught out of position too often. Easily knocked off balance or sealed from the play by blocks.
Analysis: Franklin comes off a terrific senior season and possesses the size/speed numbers to be a reserve inside linebacker if he continues to progress and completes his game.
