Thomas Claiborne

School: Boston College
Position: G
Bio: Former defensive lineman who moved to guard as a sophomore and started there the next three seasons. All-Conference choice in 2008.
Positive: Strong, well-built lineman who dominates the opposition when focused on the task at hand. Quickly gets off the line into blocks, stays square, and easily turns defenders from their angle of attack. Built low to the ground, blocks with an exceptionally wide base, and gets leverage on opponents. Displays strength in his all-around game, moves relatively well, and flashes the ability to block in motion. Gets his hands up into defenders, correctly places them, and easily controls opponents once engaged in a block.
Negative: Overextends and reaches into blocks, which affects his balance. Slow recognizing stunts and twists. Does not block with a nasty attitude and doesn E(TM)t always work hard to finish. Has been branded lazy by scouts.
Analysis: Claiborne has flashed dominance the past three years and possesses the physical build and the tools to start at the next level. He's a prospect who's gotten by on natural ability yet must show he's willing to do the little things necessary to make football a priority.
