Michael Lamphear

School: Western Illinois
Position: G
Bio: Four-year starter used at both left and right tackle.
Positive: Athletic, weak side offensive lineman who displays ability in space. Blocks with a wide base, stays square, and controls opponents once engaged at the point of attack. Shows skill blocking in motion, can adjust to linebackers and hit a moving target. Gets his hands into opponents, correctly places them, and has adequate strength at the point of attack. Makes good use of body positioning to seal opponents from the action.
Negative: Lacks dominant strength in his base and cannot finish blocks. Average footwork sliding out off the edge. Overextends into blocks and lacks balance.
Analysis: Lamphear was productive and durable on the college level, playing a number of offensive line positions. He has the underlying skills to be a backup guard in the NFL if he improves his run blocking strength while also keeping his agile style.
