Bio: Three-year starter at both left and right tackle. All-Conference selection as a senior.
Positive: Fundamentally sound college left tackle who projects to guard in the NFL. Bends his knees, blocks with good pad level and stays square. Quickly gets his hands into defenders, keeps his feet moving, and has good quickness. Keeps his head on a swivel, works blocks hard, and gets after assignments. Adequate footwork in space.
Negative: Lacks strength at the point of attack and will be pushed off the line by opponents. Marginally effective in motion.
Analysis: Hughes was a solid offensive lineman on the small school level and has the skills necessary to be a reserve in the NFL. His ability to line up at several positions on the offensive line is an added bonus.
