Scooter Berry

School: West Virginia
Position: DT
Bio: Four-year starter awarded all-Conference honors as a senior. Totals last season included 35/4.5/4 after 15/2.5/1 as a junior.
Positive: Undersized yet versatile defensive lineman with a variety of skills. Quickly gets off the snap, effectively works his hands, and shows good punch with the ability to knock lineman from blocks. Goes very hard, stays with the action, and resilient. Plays heads-up football. Rarely off his feet. Displays skill in coverage on zone blitzes and is fluid changing direction.
Negative: Very slow shedding blocks. Marginal skills rushing the passer. Not a great athlete.
Analysis: Berry has been a consistent player for West Virginia and is a prospect who does the little things well. He lacks great size/speed numbers yet is productive in enough areas that he'll get consideration as a backup in a one-gap system.
