Positive: Smallish yet feisty defensive back who is best when facing the action. Shows ability in zone coverage, recognizes routes, and stays with responsibilities. Fluid opening his hips, loses nothing in transition, and fights hard to break up throws. Possesses an adequate burst of closing speed.
Negative: Must improve and be more consistent with his backpedal. Gets turned and loses positioning too often.
Analysis: Simmons is an adequate cover man who displayed game impacting skills when he returned punts as a junior. His special teams ability will be the way he makes a roster at the next level.
