DeLeon Gause

School: Boston College
Position: CB
Bio: Three-year starter who finished with 27/1/3 as a senior in seven games. Suffered a knee injury that cut his senior season short. Junior numbers included 49 tackles and four pass breakups.
Positive: Tough cornerback who is best when facing the action. Shows a physical nature to his game, works hard to get off blocks, and gets up the field quickly to defend the run. Displays a sense of timing, possesses a burst to the play, and consistently gets a hand in to defend throws. Remains disciplined with assignments and shows good route recognition in zone coverage.
Negative: Tends to give up a lot of underneath receptions. Lacks a smooth and fluid backpedal. Does not possess great playing speed.
Analysis: Coming into the season Gause projected as a free agent prospect with possibilities as a dime player in the NFL. The knee injury of last season will depress his draft grade further. He must prove that he is healthy in camp this summer and quickly produce for any shot to make a practice squad.
