Positive: Aggressive corner with adequate size and solid ball skills. Quick flipping his hips off the line and displays solid awareness facing the action as well as decent route recognition. Shows a burst of closing and recovery speed, works to get off blocks, and willingly comes up the field defending the run. Wraps up tackling.
Negative: Struggles making plays with his back to the ball. Prefers to side shuffle instead of backpedal.
Analysis: Smith is an aggressive corner who does not back down to top competition and works hard to make plays. He has the skills necessary to be a dime back in a zone system if he proves his worth on special teams.
