Braxton Amy

School: UTEP
Position: S
Bio: Two-year starter and prior All-Conference selection. Played in eight games last season, posting 52/5/3. Missed the 2008 season with a knee injury. Led the team in tackles as a sophomore in 2006, finishing the year with 112/3/5. Has applied for a sixth year of eligibility.
Positive: Physical safety who's shown a lot of skill in the past. Displays sense of timing, gets up to defend the throw, and displays good hands for the interception. Effectively keeps the action in front of him. Physical, works hard to defend run plays or screen passes and throws his body around the field. Possesses a burst of closing speed.
Negative: Best facing the action and struggles in man coverage. Had difficulty returning from his knee injury.
Analysis: Amy showed a lot of potential early in his college career before being forced to the sidelines in 2008. He grades as a free agent prospect who could make a team as a ninth defensive back/special teams player. He should take advantage of a sixth year of eligibility if it is afforded to him by the NCAA.
