Mike Nixon

School: Arizona State
Position: OLB
Bio: Full-time starter the past two seasons, posting 73/6/.5 as a senior after career numbers of 90/8/1 as a junior.
Positive: Quick, athletic linebacker who makes plays sideline to sideline. Displays speed in every direction of the field, fast to the flanks, and effective in space. Fluid opening his hips, gets depth on drops, and covers a good amount of area on the field. Displays awareness in coverage and solid ball skills. Effectively diagnoses the action and shows good burst to the ball.
Negative: Undersized and easily taken from the action by a single blocker. May not have the pure speed to play in a one-gap system.
Analysis: Nixon is an underrated linebacker prospect who possesses a nice combination of football intelligence and athleticism. Unlikely to be drafted, he has a special teams mentality and could back up in a one-gap system.
