Allen Smith

School: Stanford
Position: G
Bio: Broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore in 2005 when he played eight games with the first team at right tackle. Started 12 games the next season on the left side. Tore his patella tendon three games into the 2007 season, which ended his campaign.
Positive: One-time highly rated offensive lineman still trying to make his way back from injury. Athletic, strong at the point of attack, and gets movement run blocking. Engulfs defenders at the point of attack, removes them from the action and works hard to finish blocks. Sized well and uses his frame as an advantage.
Negative: Haphazard in his movement, and lacks footwork sliding out to protect the edge. Bends at the waist, blocks with a narrow base, and lacks balance.
Analysis: Early in his Stanford career, Smith was highly considered by NFL scouts before he was set back with injury. Offers possibilities at guard if he is healthy and improves his overall blocking mechanics.
