Robert McClain

School: Connecticut
Position: CB
Bio: All-Conference selection as a senior when he became a full-time starter, then totaled 64/4/10 on defense, while also averaging 12.6 yards on 21 punt returns with one score. Started four games as a junior and totaled 30/3/5.
Positive: Adequately sized cornerback with special teams ability. Plays disciplined football, effectively diagnoses the action and gives effort defending throws. Solid open field tackler who fights hard and fights hard to defend the throw or stop running plays. Productive punt returner last season.
Negative: Displays just an average burst to the ball out of his plant. Marginal long speed.
Analysis: McClain comes off a break-out year and really showed his worth on defense as well as special teams last season. He looks best suited for a zone system but his ability to make a roster this summer will rely on special teams skill.
