Austin Steichen

School: Northern Iowa
Position: C
Bio: Two-year starter awarded All-Conference and All-American honors since his junior season.
Positive: Hard-working, small-area blocker who makes the most of his abilities. Strong at the point, turns defenders off the line, blocks with a nasty attitude, and strikes opponents with good hand punch. Keeps his feet moving, stays square and shows ability as a position blocker, turning defenders off the ball then sealing them from the action. . Quick and effective with the shotgun snap.
Negative: Stiff, struggles to adjust, and ineffective in space or on the move. He lacks great footwork and cannot slide laterally.
Analysis: Steichen is a hard-working blocker best playing in a phone booth. He has the style necessary for a power running offense, and yet he must get stronger and add bulk to his frame to be a straight in that system.
