Another week in the books for the college football schedule and another number one ranked team knocked from the status of undefeated.  There’s plenty of breaking NFL Draft news to start this week.  We bring you the latest on the underclassmen, the ineligible and those who’ll receive and invitation to January’s Senior Bowl!

-Scouts continue to sing the praises of Texas Longhorn cornerback Aaron Williams.  Two insiders have told us over the past week that Williams is “rising” up draft boards to the point that some scouts have him ranked as high as Patrick Peterson from LSU.  In fact we are told there are many aspects of Williams game scouts grade superior to Peterson’s.  Our opinion is Williams ball skills are better and more refined compared to the junior from LSU.  That said we continue to hear Williams is leaning towards staying in school at this point.

-Once again the chatter about JJ Watt is getting louder which means there’s truth to the rumor we spoke about on our podcast three weeks ago; Watt is entertaining thoughts about entering the draft.  Several people have told us Watt is an impressive young man with high quality character.

-After being dismissed from the North Carolina football program sources have told us Marvin Austin and Greg Little will begin training for the combine as soon as this week.  Both players are likely to receive invitations to the Senior Bowl.  The game has a history of inviting players that sat on the sidelines due to infractions which were not criminal; former Alabama defensive lineman Michael Myers for example.  We’ve been told Austin is quickly dropping down draft boards.  We will have more on this story during our podcast this week.

-Another player continuing to drop down boards is Ryan Mallett.  As one source told us, Mallett is not, “special enough for the price” that will have to be paid in dollars as well as time to develop his skills.  Like Austin we will have more detail during our podcast.

-Speaking of the Senior Bowl, we hear invitations will go out to the following players; Stephen Paea/DT/Oregon State, Adrian Clayborn/DE/Iowa, Rodney Hudson/OL/Florida State, DeMarco Murray/RB/Oklahoma and Prince Amukamara/CB/Nebraska. We also expect Derek Sherrod of Mississippi State to receive and invite as well as New Mexico State cornerback Davon House.

-Speaking of the little known Davon House, he’s been struggling with injury this season and is playing at 70% with a bad ankle.  Sources told us House has been limping through practice and wears a boot on his injured foot during the week.

-Sources have told us there’s a good chance receiver Ryan Broyles of Oklahoma enters the draft after the season.  Some have stamped the slippery pass catcher with a first round grade.
