Duke is, and will always be, a basketball school that also has a football team which plays in the fall.  The program deserves an “A” for effort but we don’t expect them to be bowl bound or have any real pro-prospects in the near future.  The squad has late/round free agent types including two in particular that we are watching.

Bryan Morgan has been the teams starting center the past two seasons after seeing action at left tackle as a freshman.  He’s an athletic blocker that consistently gets leverage on opponents, bending his knees and working his hands throughout the action.  Morgan is exceptional with shotgun snap as the ball quickly and crisply gets back to the quarterbacks hands.  He easily moves about the field, displays good footwork in space and explodes out to the second level, easily redirecting to linebackers.  Morgan lacks natural strength and struggles to turn opponents off the ball but will get consideration from zone blocking teams.

Junior Charlie Hatcher is another solid athlete that moves well and effectively makes plays in pursuit.  Also undersized, Hatcher is easily handled at the point by a single blocker.  He has possibilities as a three technique lineman.
