An interesting match-up of contrasting styles meet on the islands.   Coach June Jones’ homecoming to Hawaii should create as much a stir as his vaunted passing attack.  While Nevada will look to run over the Mustangs with their three headed rushing attack.   A wonderful football game should ensue in this Christmas Eve encounter.

3-4

Colin Kaepernick

QB

10

Jr.

A long and lanky signal caller who is arguably the nation’s top dual threat quarterback.   Kaepernick possesses very good size at 6-feet-6-inches tall and 220 pounds.  This prospect finished the season with over 1100 yards rushing and 1875 yards passing.  As a pure passer, this underclassmen surely needs more seasoning with a low release point erratic arm.

3-4

Kevin Basped

DE

99

Jr.

Another underclassman with very good athleticism and size.  Basped has been one of the top pass rushers in the nation over the past two seasons and feeds off the competition presented by his bookend Dontay Moch.  Of the two, Basped’s 6-feet-6-inch frame makes him a very intriguing 34 outside linebacker prospect in the near future.

3-4

John Bender

OG

62

Jr.

Massive guard prospect who has helped pave the way for three 1000 yard rushers this season.

7-FA

Dontay Moch

DE

55

Jr.

As mentioned, Moch is another solid edge rusher with some pro potential.  His downfall is a lack of ideal height at a listed 6-feet-1-inch tall.  His production has been fantastic with 19.5 tackles for loss to date this season.

Jonathan Amaya

S

49

Sr.

A former walk-on, Amaya has worked his way into being the team’s leading tackler.  The safety has nice size at 6-feet-2-inches tall, and the versatility to spot start at cornerback for the Wolfpack.  Also doubles as s return man.   There was a knee issue two seasons ago to keep in mind.

FA

Alonzo Durham

OT

73

Sr.

Playing tackle most his career at Nevada, Durham has size limitations but could play some center at the next level.

FA

Mike Bethea

LB

36

Sr.

Came back from a foot injury a year ago to become the team’s second leading tackler.   A former JUCO transfer who has some size possibilities at both inside and outside linebacker.

FA

Luke Lippincott

RB

Productive college running back with some injury issues.

Emmanuel Sanders

WR

Sr.

A big time senior season in Junes Jones spread offense can only help Sanders.   After snagging 91 balls, totaling 1215 yards receiving, this fringe prospect could become a draftable one.    Sanders has produced effectively through all four seasons while at Southern Methodist.
