The pro-day week starts off with a light schedule on Monday as we’ll be posting reports from Duke and Iowa this afternoon.  The schedule heats up tomorrow as Notre Dame, Mississippi and North Carolina take to the field.  Arizona State, Boise State and Central Michigan also have pro-day workouts this week.  Updates:   Duke & Oghobaase

More than two dozen NFL teams were on hand to watch several today’s Iowa pro-day.

Cornerback Amari Spievey ran his 40 in times which were slightly better than his marks from the combine.  Most scouts had Spievey in the very low 4.5-second range while a few stopwatches read 4.49 seconds.

Linebacker AJ Edds and Pat Angerer both ran in the high 4.6’s.

Junior offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga stood on most of his combine numbers yet did participate in the bench press.  His total of 27 reps was one better than his number from Indianapolis (26).

Reserve offensive lineman Dan Doering turned a few heads today.  Doering, a guard who saw limited starting action on the Hawkeyes talented offensive line, measured 6055/301, ran his forty in 5.11 seconds,  posted a short shuttle of 4.35 seconds and a three cone time of 7.39 seconds.    He completed 22 reps on the bench.

The numbers we’ve been given for Oghobaase include 5.22 seconds in the forty and 4.58 in the short shuttle.  Both were much better than his times from Indianapolis.  Oghobaase told people he felt much better today then during his workout in Indianapolis.

During the Duke pro-day scouts came away impressed with linebacker Vincent Rey.

Rey measured 6003/240lbs, ran times of 4.58 and 4.54 in the 40 and 4.20 in the short shuttle.  His 38.5-inch vertical jump was impressive as was his three cone time of 6.79 seconds. He also completed 20 reps on the bench.  After the workout Rey spent extensive time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots and New York Jets.

We’ve received no numbers on Vince Oghobaase though sources have told us he did not look good during drills.

In Iowa comes word that cornerback Amari Spievey will be completing a full workout.

Defensive lineman Vince Oghobaase hopes to rebound from a poor combine performance at Duke’s pro-day.  Blue Devil linebacker Vincent Rey is someone on our sleeper list and a player we are watching today.

Finally we hope to get information on the South Dakota pro-day as we will be following quarterback Noah Sheppard, another sleeper we like.
