18 Mar
Things slow down today after yesterday’s hectic pro-day schedule. Nate Collins and Sergio Render are just two non-combine prospects working out today in the state of Virginia while Chris Marinelli is in the same situation out in Stanford. We’ll have all these covered and expect to get information in from the Temple pro-day as well. Update 11PM: Va Tech, UVA, Temple, Oregon
Virginia Tech
Ed Wang had a rather impressive workout today at Virginia Tech. His forty time was just over 4.9 seconds, his short shuttle was in the 4.5 second range and his three cone was 7.76 seconds. Wang’s vertical jump of 28-inches was one inch better than his combine mark.
Sergio Render measured 6’ 3.5” and 311 pounds, ran a forty time in the 5.2 second area, completed 28 reps on the bench and posted a vertical jump of 26.5-inches.
Oregon
Safety TJ Ward was timed as fast as 4.46 seconds in the forty though some scouts did have him in the very low 4.50 second range. His short shuttle was 4.07 seconds and three cone was 6.78 seconds.
Virginia
Rashawn Jackson, our number one rated fullback, ran a 4.65 in the forty.
Temple
Middle linebacker Alex Joseph, one of our favorite sleepers at the position, really surprised scouts with his athleticism today. Joseph ran times in the low 4.6’s, posted a 33 inch vertical jump, 9’ 11’’ broad jump and completed 21 reps on the bench. The 238-pound run stuffer was thought to be more of a 4.8-forty guy.
Oregon
The wait was worth it for LeGarrette Blount. Blount measured 6-1/238lbs and several scouts clocked him in times of 4.53 and 4.55 seconds in the forty.
We will have more later this evening.
Virginia Tech
The workout at Virginia Tech is finished and junior defender Jason Worilds impressed scouts on hand. Worilds averaged in the low 4.5-second area during his two attempts in the forty (4.47 and 4.55). His short shuttle time of 4.08 seconds was solid and Worilds posted a broad jump of 9’ 10’’. The Carolina Panthers and linebacker drills by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Defensive lineman Cordarrow Thompson, a sleeper of sorts, measured 6021/311lbs, completed 24 reps on the bench and a vertical jump of 26.5-inches. His forty time was 5.18 included a 10yd split of 1.73 seconds. The New York Jets, a team in need of young defensive line help, closely monitored Thompson.
Cornerback Stephan Virgil posted a time of 4.64 seconds in the forty, 4.08 seconds in the shuttle and a three cone of 6.87 seconds.
Temple
Steve Maneri showed surprising speed and athleticism during today’s Temple pro-day. He measured 6-foot, 7-inch prospect weighed 264-pounds then ran a time of 4.81 in the 40. He completed 23 reps on the bench, posted a 28 inch vertical jump and timed 4.51 in the short shuttle.
Stanford
More numbers from Stanford.
Tight end Jimmy Dray ran his forty’s in times of 4.78-to-4.82 seconds, posted a vertical jump of 34 inches, a broad of 9’ 5’’, completed 19 reps on the bench. His three cone time was 7.07 seconds while his short shuttle was 4.30-seconds. Sources from the Cincinnati Bengal scouting department spoke highly of Dray’s pass catching workout. Chris Marinelli measured 6065, 301lbs, timed his forty’s in 5.04-5.07 seconds, posted a vertical jump of 30.5-inches, only completed 16 reps, had a three cone time of 7.45-seconds and a short shuttle of 4.78-seconds.
Numbers are slowly coming in from the Stanford workout.
Allen Smith, the one time highly rated offensive lineman who suffered a variety of injuries recently, completed 27 reps on the bench, posted a forty time of 5.31-seconds, short shuttle of 4.6 seconds and 7.6 seconds in the three cone. He moved relatively well in drills.
Chris Marinelli, the college tackle we project to guard in the NFL, was able to get under 5.1-seconds in the forty. He also only completed 17 reps on the bench.
Reportedly defensive lineman Ekom Udofia pushed up 35 reps on the bench. This is yet to be confirmed.
We were told scouts asked Toby Gerhart to run the 60 yard shuttle as he did not complete the drill at the combine, and the big back would not run.
Florida State
There was a time when the FSU pro-day was a major event on the calendar yet these days people often don’t take note. There are still some fast times.
Cornerback Patrick Robinson posted a forty time of 4.38 seconds while linebacker Dekoda Watson was also swift clocking 4.45 seconds. Robinson looked solid in drills.
Surprisingly Myron Rolle, who ran poorly at the combine, did not workout today and was a no show. Rolle will have hold a private workout in a few weeks yet scouts did not hide their displeasure over the fact the safety was not in attendance.
Virginia
Nearly a dozen scouts were on hand to watch defensive lineman Nate Collins.
Collins weighed in at 291 pounds then ran a time of 4.85 seconds in the 40. His vertical jump was a solid 32-inches. He looked terrific in drills and most scouts now feel Collins can play either defensive tackle in a conventional system or the end position in a 3-4 alignment.
Linebacker Denzel Burrell put up solid numbers today. He measured 6033/229lbs, posted a forty time of 4,58 seconds, completed 23 reps on the bench and touched 36.5-inches in the vertical jump.
Chris Cook took part in defensive back drills and looked uninspired. Throughout the drills coaches had to coax Cook to pick up the tempo.
Chris Cook did not run this morning at Virginia pro-day.
Toby Gerhart of Stanford is not expected run and will stand on his times from the combine. Defensive end Erik Lorig will also not be working out as he had minor surgery on a pectoral muscle right after the combine. He’s expected to be 100% by early June.
Running back LeGarrette Blount as well as safety TJ Ward are both expected to workout for scouts.

ThANKS!!!
First, it should be noted that Myron Rolle alerted the FSU Sports Information Director that he would not be in attendance at the FSU Pro Day prior to any NFL scouts making arrangements to attend the FSU Pro Day.
Second, a poor time would be what was unofficially reported or slower. Myron Rolle ran a 4.59 and the fastest Safety ran a 4.43. Fortunately, Myron had faster times than all the top 40 yard times’ safeties in the other drills. The media concentrated on the measureable drills that are not football related drills. However his times were much better than the other highly ranked safeties, yet those times went unreported by NFL.com and the other media outlets.
Third, Myron was completing his trimester at Oxford. Myron flew to England after the National Invitational Camp. His Pro Day will be held as soon as he returns to Tom Shaw’s training facility at the Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fl. where the scouts were properly notified of all Myron’s previous engagements.
Fourth, Myron obtained permission by the NFL to have a workout in Orlando or Kissimmee, prior to the FSU Pro Day due to his unavailability.
Unfortunately, this report failed to mention which team or scout voiced their displeasure with Myron’s non attendance at a Pro Day he was not scheduled to be at. If there is actual displeasure or the scout was not made aware of Myron’s non-attendance at a Pro Day Myron was neither scheduled to be at or physically unable to attend, then Myron will make every effort to have that scout notified of his time and date of his return to Orlando and the scheduled workout.
